We appreciate your interest in Kalamazoo Nature Center’s Nature Up Close Camp. Being a member of our Camp Staff team is very rewarding and challenging. There is no greater responsibility given to us by the parents of our campers. We are trusted with the care and well-being of their children, and are partners in their development and safety.
The most important aspect of being a counselor is the relationship that you will build with each camper. You will be a great role model for the children, and help them to appreciate each other and the natural world.
Through the hiring process, we ask about your ability to relate with children and diverse groups of people. We inquire about your work habits, personality, character, and many other factors which we think indicate excellent staff. We will also check your references, do a criminal background check for staff over 18, and an additional child abuse check for staff over 21. If you have a sincere desire to make a difference in a child’s life, we encourage you to apply.
