This week of camp is based on the popular Spiderwick Chronicles book series. It is a camp…IN WHICH, campers explore the quarry, the manor house, and the grove. Bring your imagination as we create a field guide of the world around you and go in search of what is missing. Join the adventure of Simon, Jared, and Mallory to see a real ironwood tree, stray sod and assist with the care of animals. Grab one of our butterfly nets and maybe you’ll catch a sprite, but when you cross the bridge over the stream, watch out for trolls.

Adventure Super Camp
What could be more super than spending all day exploring the coolest parts of the Nature Center like the Gravel Pits and Trout Run Stream with new friends and awesome counselors? Live out the adventures of a nature detective, super hero, or the characters from your favorite book, create natural art, and try to catch a fish in the Source Pond too!

Diggin’ Up the Past + Museum Trip
How old are the fossils at the Gravel Pit? Did dinosaurs ever live at KNC? How did people live here in Michigan without computers and grocery stores? Visit the Kalamazoo Valley Museum and explore the best parts of the Nature Center’s property to find out the answers to these questions while having a great time outside. So grab your shovel and dig in to this exciting week of camp.

Hooked on Fishing + Fishing Trips
Summer days and fishing go hand in hand. This week you will fish and explore the habitats that fish love. Visit Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery and see how scientists are helping fish right here in Kalamazoo. To catch a big fish, you’ve got to think like one!

Wild Child + One Overnight (co-ed)
Being at home in the woods doesn’t happen overnight—it takes a week at camp! Study where animals live and the signs they leave behind. Learn to set up a tent and build safe shelters and fires. Discover nature at night and practice awareness and self-reliance on an awesome overnight campout. Pack your bags and get ready to let out the Wild Child in you!
