Thanks for coming for a visit to the farm to pick up your pre-Thanksgiving share. We had a great turn out and lots of fun as families selected from a long list of fresh veggies to take home for their holiday dinners. Check out the pictures of what fun it was to dig in the sand to find carrots, turnips, and rutabagas! Why were these vegetables in big sandboxes? Well, with the bountiful harvest that we had this year we ran out of storage space in our cooler, so we had to figure out a different way to store the veggies so they would be fresh for shareholder use. We buried them in sand, covered in plastic and monitored the humidity level with buckets of water in order to maintain a consistent low temperature for optimal freshness! It ended up having the added benefit of a fun treasure hunt to find the veggies at pick up!
