Glaciers, Rocks into Soil 
FALL & SPRING, 2 HRS
Explore the history and formation of our soil. Identify rocks that have been physically and chemically weathered. Use a soil auger and a soil sifter to help compare and classify soil types found in different habitats.

How Settlers Used Michigan Resources
FALL & SPRING, 2 HRS
Use 19th-century tools, visit a log cabin, and explore an old farm house to learn about the use of resources over time.

Marvelous Birds
SEPTEMBER–OCTOBER, 2 HRS
Observe field biologists banding migrating birds, map out bird migration routes in the Western Hemisphere, and learn about several unique adaptations of birds.

Outdoor Survival Skills
ALL SEASONS, 2 HRS
Practice using a map and compass, build an emergency shelter, and find out why your brain is the best survival tool of all.

ALL SEASONS, 1.25 HRS  
What owl is making that noise? Learn about the unique adaptations of these nocturnal animals. Meet a live owl.  This is an indoor program.

Go back in time and explore the ancient worlds of Michigan and the animals that lived back then by observing the fossils that are found here. Travel to the bottom of ancient seas and to the ice age glaciers as they retreat.
