Membership and Events Assistant
Summary of Position:  The Membership and Events Assistant is responsible to assist with a wide range of administrative support for the Development department. This full-time position is responsible for database use and maintenance, including individual memberships and Southwest Michigan Sustainable Business Forum (SWMSBF) membership acknowledgements and renewals, CSA farm share maintenance, event registrations, and volunteer records maintenance. In addition, this position will assist in producing solicitations and coordinating bulk mailings using presort software. Stewardship Field Crew
Summary of Position: The Stewardship Field Crew Position will be responsible for providing on the ground management of natural areas. Management activities will include such things as: 1) woody and herbaceous plant control using hand and mechanical equipment (chainsaws and brush cutters) and herbicides; 2) using prescribed fire; 3) Seed collection and native plant installations; 4) building trails, etc. The crew member will assist with planning field work, tracking budgets, and maintaining vehicles and equipment. Applicants are expected to be able to work in rough and difficult terrain under adverse weather conditions and be able to lift 50 lbs. We are looking for motivated self-startes that have obtained or are persuing a degree in restoration ecology, conservation management, or a related field. Applicants are also required to have experience with natural areas management including plant/plant community identification, invasive species management, and experience with power equipment, tools, and herbicides.  For more information and application instructions, view the entire job description here.

Gate Host

Summary of Position:  The Gate House Host is responsible for providing the highest customer service as our first point of contact with the public through collecting admissions, greeting visitors, promoting memberships and answering questions knowledgeably about the Nature Center.  This is a seasonal, hourly, part-time position with weekend hours expected.  For more information and application instructions, view the entire job description here.

Host for Member & Guest Services
Summary of Position: Provide the highest quality customer service as key team member for Member and Guest Services. DeLano Farms CSA Farm Crew
Summary of Position:
DeLano Farms is entering its fourth season of production at the Kalamazoo Nature Center, with a goal of feeding 200 CSA member families, taking food to farmers market, and donating surplus local organizations.  Crew members will work as a team under the leadership of the Farm Managers to run the day-to-day operations of DeLano Farms and its CSA, performing all tasks involved in vegetable production and CSA management.  
The crew will be expected to attain proficiency in all basic farm skills and provide excellent customer service to CSA share holders and visitors to the Kalamazoo Nature Center, as well as during farmer’s market.  Available positions are seasonal, temporary, fulltime or part time, with a variable weekly work schedule. Farm Animal Educator
Summary of Position:
 The Farm Animal Educator is a seasonal, part-time (25 - 40 hours/week) position from Mid-April through Labor Day responsible for teaching programs for children and family audiences and caring for farm animals at the Kalamazoo Nature Center (KNC). This position provides excellent experience for individuals who are majoring in education, recreation or environmental studies. Farm Animal Educators work with professional educators, will gain hands-on animal care experience, enjoy rich learning opportunities and gain a variety of teaching techniques and ideas. In addition to leading school and public programs, barnyard educators prepare teaching materials and contribute their own creative ideas to programs. Farm Educator

Summary of Position:  The Farm Educator is a seasonal, part-time (24 hours/week) position from early-May through Labor Day, responsible for teaching programs for children and family audiences at the Kalamazoo Nature Center, (KNC).   Program topics are focused on farming and benefits of healthy local food and may include working with our farm animals.  This position includes garden and field work. The Farm Educator works with professional educators and directors, will gain hands-on farming experience, enjoy rich learning opportunities and gain a variety of teaching techniques and ideas. In addition to leading school and public programs, CSA programs, and farm camp programs, the Farm Educator will assist in preparing teaching materials and contribute their own creative ideas to programs.  We are hiring for 1 position.  This is an outdoor job that requires the ability to work in all natural conditions that do not threaten safety.  The Farm Educator reports to the Farm Education Coordinator of the Kalamazoo Nature Center and works closely with all KNC staff.  For more information and application instructions, view the entire job description here.
