Wild Child Day Camp: 4th – 5th Grade
What could be better than spending all day exploring the coolest parts of KNC? Check out trails and the awesome places they lead us to. Meet new friends and superb counselors while living out your favorite adventures. Explore the Delano Homestead side of KNC’s property, practice important outdoor skills, create art and have a blast with water fun! The themes below describe additional activities we will add during that session of camp. Come prepared to play!

Forest, wetlands, and prairie, oh my! Work together to find each different type of habitat at KNC. Discover the different features and creatures that each one has to offer. Which habitat would you live in if you were an animal?

From hiding in plain sight to jumping at great heights, discover what makes these creatures so good at being so bad. Let’s search for the habitats where they can be found. Discover what’s going down when these animals are hanging around.

Look into the past to see into the future! Start with dinosaurs and a hike to the Gravel Pit, then explore other ancient animals. Follow history’s trail of people working alongside animals and explore what this history means for our future.

Discover all the food KNC grounds has to offer for animals. Test your foraging skills and learn to care for what’s growing in the garden beds at camp. Let’s get our hands dirty with soil.
Wild Child Campout: 4th – 5th Grade
Can’t get enough of camp? Stay with us overnight! Use your Wild Child skills during the day, and work up to a campout on Thursday! We’ll set up tents, cook over fires, and take a night hike – a KNC specialty! It’s a great time with counselors and KNC friends. Pack your bags, it’s time to camp! The themes below describe additional activities we will add during that session of camp. Come prepared to play!

“Water” you waiting for? Get wet as we learn more about our most precious resource–water. Learn to fish, explore KNC’s bodies of water, study the pond and meet LIVE water creatures.

Let’s search high and low for different types of insects in KNCs habitats. Keep track of sightings of Monarch Butterflies at their different stages. Dig in the dirt to see if you can find earthworms. Build a bug hotel to create a home for bugs around where you live. It’s sure to be a buggy week.

Neurodiversity Naturalists Camp: 4-8 years old
Explore nature through your own lens. This camp is aimed at supporting the needs of our campers with special needs. KNC provides experiences for all young ones to learn, experience, and find joy in nature. We’ll hunt for water creatures, find, draw, and identify insects and the plants they depend on to survive. The underground provides the perfect home for the grubs, slugs, and other soil-loving critters, and we’ll dig in to find some. Each day is filled with wonder, exploration, sensory friendly play, nature art, hands on activities, and learning different aspects of our environment and how it works together. Note: This camp will be led by a staff with experience and supported by a teacher with a special education certification. Ratios will be one adult for every three children. All youth are welcome to register for every camp program we offer. This session is for children with unique learning needs. We welcome questions if you are wondering if this is a fit for you. Please bring lunch if a snack will not be enough for your child. *If your child needs a small crowd, please join the alternative Open House time, Saturday, June 8th 9-10am.

Neurodiversity Naturalists Camp: 9-11 years old
New! Each day is filled with wonder, each day an exploration. This camp is aimed at supporting the needs of our campers with unique learning needs. Hunt for water creatures. Find, draw, and identify insects and the plants they depend on to survive, dig into the underground for the grubs, slugs, and other soil loving critters. Campers will have fun with sensory friendly play, nature art, hands on activities, and learning different aspects of our environment and how it works together. Counselors will work with registered participants to choose themes for this week, starting with these initial ideas. Note: This camp is led by a staff with experience, supported by a teacher with a special education certification. Ratios will be one adult for every three children. All youth are welcome to register for every camp program we offer. We welcome questions if you are wondering if this is a fit for you. *If your child needs a small crowd, please join the alternative Open House time Saturday, June 8th 9-10am.
